Cingular or T-Mobile

If one were to jump from VXW, which is better, Cingular or T-Mobile? I am on east coast in New Jersey. As much as I love my 8100, if update doesn't correct the problems, I am considering jumping. I am tired of dealing with a carrier who doesn't seem to care about their customers. The same software will be same for all upcoming phones and that scares me. 👿

Yes, jump ship go ahead. Neither one of the companies you mentioned have ever had any issues.

Hi,

Funny, I tried to switch to T-Mobile so that I could get a couple of free Razr's. Even though I was in a "Good" reception area, neither T-Mobile phone could make or receive calls from my house! T-Mobile said, "You'll have good reception from outside your house, or in your car. The GSM signal sometimes has problems going through walls."

I jumped back to Verizon and haven't dropped a call yet. I picked up a couple of 8100's - they're okay, but I have problems with echo on the speakerphone (the people I've called all say so) and it's tough finding the "sweetspot" on the earpiece so that the call can be heard at full volume. What problems are you having with the 8100? I'm thinking of swapping for a couple of E815's...

If you have to switch then go cingular, tmobile is terrible from my experience. Thing to remember, you are mad at verizon for not taking care of you but yet they are the highest ranked in customer service and have the lowest customer turnover. Why you may ask? Even as bad as Verizon is the others are just as bad or worse than verizon in the customer service department. If you can't handle your 8100 i would suggest calling customer service and trying a different phone model.

Tried the 815 before the 8100. Moto is a piece of s**t. Also tried the a950. Great, except for the voice dial. Got nothing right and if it did, sent it to text. 2 brand new phones. Moto and Sam both use 3rd party software for voice dial. And remember, VZW software is now same for all phones, although the BT, camera delay and volume problem could be hardware. Don't know because neither VZW or LG want to talk about it or correct it. Other major corporations have recalls to correct problems. why can't VZW? It just seems like they don't care. 😡

What didn't you like about the E815? From what I've read, the reception is good and the volume is good at the earpiece... Nobody will talk to me if I'm using the 8100 speaker phone because they get an echo, and I keep having to adjust the volume on my phone either because it moves slighty away from my ear, or there is truly a volume problem.

But you've had both the 8100 and the 815 - which one has the better reception and sound?

Reception was better on 815. Speakerphone not as laud. Now illegal to use cell phone in NJ. $250 fine, 1st offense. Voice dial now essential and was horrible on 815. 3rd party software the same as a950. Same company. Wouldn't read the name right and when it did, 4 out of 5 times would go to text instead of dialing. Digit dial was wacko also. The 8100 voice dial is almost perfect. That's why I went back to it. I did not experience the BT or volume before update. Would give anything to go back to v01.

Verizon's ui is the same for all phones, not the software.

As a former Cingular customer I can say, tell them to suck eggs! I travel quite a bit and there service stunk everywhere compared to VZ, with multiple phones, so not hardware issue. I can't speak to T-Mobile or Sprint, but I can suggest avoiding Cingular and their non-existant Network.
VZ has shown a desire to be "greedy" turing a buck, but hey, it's a business and it's why they are more profitable than the other wireless companies I guess.
I'd suggest basing it on service, that's why forums like this exist, to help "correct" any issues not addressed by the carrier.
