There was an interesting story in yesterdays Wall St. Journal that makes me think VZ may soon change their policy on tethering their EV-Do phones to a computer. According to the article, their new Music download system scheduled for start-up later this month, will allow downloading music to either the phone or to a computer. If downloaded directly to the phone, they plan to charge $1.99 per song. If downloaded to a computer, they only plan to charge $.99 per song. Regardless of how it is downloaded, the article said that you will be able to play the music on both your phone and your computer. They are doig this to compete with the iPODS. verizon will offer a cable to transfer the songs from the computer straight to the phone. but this cable wont allow the phone to be used as a modem because this would allow unlimited access to evdo high speed internet for only 15.00 a month that vcast costs.

Yes, but right now, the agreement that Verizon makes us sign specifically states that we may not attach the phone to a computer. I know we can do so by going to aftermarket products, but it is a violation of the Verizon contract we have to agree to. If they offer a data cable to transfer the songs, then they also have to discontinue that policy.

beleive it or not but the data cable that verizon will be offering is different then our ebay models. their data cable will only work for the music transfer and our existing cables are not supposed to work, not sure how they pulled that off but that is the word
