Lost my pics and flix during updgrade attempt
This sucks...I read all the great stuff about going to VO7 from V04 so I took my phone to the local Verizon store. I read that some downloaded apps may be lost so I inquired about other data. They assured me that my videos and pics would be safe. When I picked up my phone 45 minutes later the file names were all there, but when I tried to open them...NADA!!! Some of these were precious to me and I didn't yet have the chance to back them up. To add insult to injury, the upgrade didn't even go through...still V04! The Verizon people were baffled, never saw this before. They talked to LG folks who confirmed data permantely lost. My question is why are the file names still there? Is there yet a way to retrieve my stuff? Any help greatl...

My Verizon store always offers to back up my stuff on the network temporarily prior to upgrades... essentially the 1.99 service but for just that time 🙂

I actually have the $1.99 backup assistant, but it only covers your contacts, not pix or flix. Ironically my contacts were not at all affected...

I had this happen to me during the version 4 update. All my pix changed to a box with a question mark in it. I was not able to get them back and I was not able to delete them either. I had to get a new phone under warranty and I now have a miniSD card that I use to save all my pix. Whenever I take the phone to get an update, I will remove the card first.
Unfortunately I don't know of a way to get the pix back (don't think verizon know's either which is why they replaced it).

FYI...when this happens, there is no way to fix it. When you get your software upgraded, the software used to do this actually goes through, reads everything in the phone, and then backs up everything in the phone. It then continues to update the software...once the software flash is complete, it then reads the file it created when it "backed up" everything to put your information back in the phone. By information i mean "pix, contacts, etc"....chances are either the computer took too long to do something and the program used to flash the phone "timed out" or the file that was the actual backup of all your info became corrupted. I've seen this happen a few times. There is/was a way to get it back, but chances are the tech didn't know it, and...
