Yes, with the update you can have songs in your phone memory, but you have to subscribe to Vcast (15.00 bucks/month) and then pay per song (.99 or 1.99)

OR

Buy miniSD ($35.00 for 256mb), get update, reactivate mp3 support and put all your own mp3's on it.

Hope this helps,

Merc56,
Actually, you don't have to subscribe to VCast, nor do you have to have a mini S/D card. I had the update installed last Saturday and since then have added songs (yes, Mp3s!) to my phone from my collection on Windows Media Player v.10 and a data cable. In fact, in my area, we don't get VCast (yet? if ever!), so . . . .
Works great 🙂

I did err on needing to subscribe to VCast, but I did say that you can have them in your phone memory now. Also, I do believe (from previous posts) that when you transfer with Windows Media Player is converts them to WMA.

Just a thought....

I thought u could only get wma's on the phones memory? how are u getting mp3's on there?

also, how long does it take you to put mp3's/wmas on your phones memory using bitpim? it kinda takes a while for me when i tried

and where are u writing the mp3's/wma's to on your phone using bitpim to get it to play off the phones memory?

You CAN only put WMA's on the phones memory. Windows Media player 10 will automatically convert your MP3's into WMA's. And you don't put them on via Bitpim. If you choose to put WMA's onto your phones memory you need to use the music software cable that comes with the music essentials kit (different than the regular data cable) along with the software (all included in the kit). You can put MP3 ringtones onto your phone via Bitpim, but not MP3's for your player.
