Poor Battery Issues?
Hi all---hoping maybe someone has some insight here...
I recently bought the 8100---love it. Except for some battery issues. According to the user manual it should give me some indication of the battery being low...it doesn't. Basically we get down to a bar and then phone powers down. No warning...just realize the person I was talking to isn't there anymore and now my phone is off. Even my OLD Nokia gave me some beeps first. So that leads me to think there is an issue.
Second, I noticed last night I was on the phone for about 2 hours straight, (this was the longest time yet on this new phone). Started with a fully charged battery and by the end I was down to 1 bar, it went really fast after the first 2 bars were gone. Talk time...

As far as battery life. Are you in an area that is verging on EVDO and is your phone constantly going from EVDO to 1x back and forth? If so, this will drain your battery, but it can be put to 1x only so it won't do it. Other factors that may effect talk time/battery life is having a video for your front screen saver or playing games or using mobile web.
#1 If the phone is brand new, you have to cycle the battery a few times (let it drain completely out, charge it fully with the phone off, drain it again, etc) before you will get an accurate depiction of how long the battery will last.
#2 And most importantly.....coverage. The phone works on what's called a "line of sight" principle. Same thing as a radio. The harder that phone has to work to maintain a signal, the shorter the battery...since the battery is the only power source of the phone. Now...by line of sight....if you are in your house, or surrounded by trees, or have anything else between you and a cell tower, it's going to affect your battery life.
