Wal-Mart Ringtones Question
Okay, I have searched through the old posts here, and on howardforums, but cannot find the answer. How do you capture the 30 sec. trial songs from Wal-Mart music in order to use them as ringtones? Or am I missing something? Are people buying the song for $ .88 and then making it a ringer?
Thank you.

Sorry you couldn't find it on the search, but it's really easy, you'll see. You have a usb cable w/driver and downloaded Bitpim?? That's the 1st thing. You don't have to buy the song, but I hope Walmart gets lots of business from you otherwise. Just right click your mouse on the listen song sample and you will have the option of saving it on your computer in Bitpim or else save it as an mp3 file and drag and drop it into bitpim ringers folder. Save it, rename it because they have "numbers".mp3 and you will want "songname".mp3. Later you can hook up your phone with the cable and Bitpim will guide you through the rest.

not sure how good the quality on those are, cant be very good, why dont you get a audio editing program such as goldwave, and make your 30 sec clips?

You're probably right about the quality, and the advantage is to get Ding Dong the Witch is Dead as a rington without wanting to actually own more than 30 seconds of it. Ha ha.
Funny you should say, I downloaded Goldwave nearly a year ago on shareware, don't understand it whatsoever! It's over my head, I need a tutor! So the short cut, I took and I think the party is over. It's not working anymore.

Thanks for responding, I appreciate the help. I have a cable, bitpim, and card reader. My problem is that I can't save the Walmart ringtones. When I right-click on the sample, the only "save" option I get is, "save target as..". I'm running Win XP Prof. I can't figure out how to save/download the sample of the song. Any ideas?

I tried to do one after I read your post and, sadly it didn't work for me either!! Mabye they are on to us??? I have windows XP, right clicked, left clicked on save target as, and it said "download incomplete". I don't know, my windows media player to play the clips looks different too, don't know if it's them or me, have to check w/ the kids to see if they changed something. We'll see!
