Ok I've decided to try this again. can someone who uses this please give me step by step instructions on how to use this? I went to bitpin it found my phone, I went to ringers clicked on add, Now can someone give me step by step instructions on what to do next? and I mean step 1 do this, step 2 do this and so on otherwise I don't understand, this is the second time I've put this software on my computer, by the way I'm on Windows XP, and want singing ringers not Poly tones. The only MP3's I have are from ITunes. If these won't work let me now, or if there are step by step instructions on this site, this site and no other please give me that link. Sorry to sound so mean, but trying to get anyone to give the kind of help I want is like pulling ...

Well, first of all, make sure your phone is connected with your PC using either a data cable or Bluetooth USB adapter. Then highlight which rintones you want added, then at the top of Bitpim under "Data" chosse send phone data then select "ringtones" when the box pops up and the ringtones will go onto your phone under My_Ringtones (in the GET IT NOW-Get Tunes & Tones section of your menu).

Never mind Mary, I saw what your talking about, which is an entirely different cable. Now where can I get one that's not an arm and a leg? I don't do ebay, it's not even an option for me. Are they expensive at say a RadioShack? Sorry for being such a pain, but that's all everyone talks about and I want to try it.

I'm not sure how much they run, but check around at Radio Shack, Circuit City, Best Buy, places like that. You may want to check price difference in getting a USB Bluetooth adapter too. That may be cheaper, and IMO, a lot easier.

Or, before you do that, you could try it with the cable that came with the Music Essentials Kit. I'm not sure, but seems like I've read on here that people have used it with Bitpim and it worked. I can't say for sure, though, as I use the BT adapter instead.

Ok, I went to Verizon today to ask about my battery which I have to charge everyday which I thought was strange but the tech said that's normal with this phone, I also asked about a data cable and they showed me the kit. Now after I plug my phone in and it finds it, which it does on com 6, where and how do I find the ring tones. I'm new to this, and have never heard of or even knew Bitpim exsisted until I found the Phone Scoop site which is also new to me, that's why I don't have a clue, even though my phone is plugged in I still have a blank page with a musical note on it when I click on the ringers tab. How do you use Bitpim???
...
It's blank because you haven't put any ringtones in it yet! When your on that blank page with the notes, you click add in the upper left hand corner to add songs from your PC. Then when you've added what you want, highlight them, then at the top under DATA, choose send phone data, then choose ADD RINGTONES when the box pops up and they will then be sent to your phone.

To add a ringtone to the lg-vx8100 through bitpim, after connecting the phone and starting bitpim click on the "Filesystem" tab. Once in the file system follow the steps below.
Step 1: Expand the "dload" tree, right click on "my_ringtone.dat" and click "delete" to delete it
...
You do NOT need to go into the filesystem to add ringtones on the 8100, in fact, stay away from it unless you really know what you are doing because you can really mess up your phone by using the filesystem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok thanks. I want to try the Walmart music clips, I read on here that you right click on the song, then save it to Bitpim, when I do that will Bitpim be in that list? since Bitpim is on my computer or do I have to do something to get songs I want to use for ringtones into Btpim, I think that's where I'm stuck. Let me tell you what I do then maybe you can help me from there cause I know this can't be as hard as I'm making it, if I can put mp3's on my phone I should be able to do this. 1st I plug my phone in and it finds it on com 6 and I click ok, then I clicked on add and a long list of files came up, and I think I saw ITunes in there, but I'm going to forget that because I don't think I can use those since VZW won't let you use those for ...

thanks for help VW Midwest, I'm going to keep trying and not give up so quick this time. I think there should be a Bitpim link on this forum that we could go to, dedicated just to that, with steps on how to use it. That would be great, or would that not be a no no here?
