i found out that when i had first bought the 8100, i had v-cast for a month for free. found this out from the cust service reps. it would have been nice to try, atleast had the people at the store told me i had it 👿

know what you mean same thing happened to me,now i half to say verizon customer service [at least to me] have been wonderfull..maybe i was not expecting much since i came out of a two year with at+t wireless[now cingular]. the problem i have with verizon is their outrageous upgrade prices..at at+t after nine months with one phone you got like a 30 percent discount on a new phone...i thought i might be able to do same with verizon..but jesus!!2 years or expect to pay about 400 dollars for a decent phone if you wanna upgrade before then...i think that really sucks, and when my contract does end and i find out sprint has a better policy on that than i would change . 👿

I like Verizon for the signal I get in my house before them I had Cingular for 10 yrs. but could never get a signal in or around my house even if I went outside in the yard, that's why I switched to Verizon, but I find the prices to be high too, and I think they should have some kind of unlimited package for their ring tones like they do for the instant messageing. people I know who have or have had Sprint say you can do alot of cool things with their phones, I think Verizon won't do cool things because they have the new every two. I want to try other carriers but think I won't get good service and will get stuck in the contract. One day I'll get brave 🙂

I'm not sure why this is a VZW problem. Sure, they could have been better about holding your hand but jeez, all the HUGE displays around the store didn't make you ask? Beyond that, don't you typically explore your phone and try out all the features? It's not like accessing VCast is hidden or anything!

I got told about the free trial, and have the trial, but will be dumping it when it's over because # 1 the price, even though you get alot in it, and # 2 I can't use any of the VCast features, not available in my area 🙄

well, there were no "HUGE" displays around the store. and yes, i've never used vcast, new phone and all, i went in to the sm and switched to 1x only to extend my battery. so, no, i dont need someone to hold my hand, but yes i expect to be told about things when i spend that kind of money.

same thing happened when i went to get my vo7 update. i stood in line for 45 minutes to find out the...

Even if you don't subscribe to VCast, EVDO service to check your 'minutes free' mobile web is MUCH faster. 1x is like going back to dialup 🙂 Bottom line, even if you don't pay for it, I don't see the point in disabling it. I'm not convinced there's a difference in batt life. From what I remember, before they turned on EVDO here and after it seems the same to me. I surf about 20-30 minutes a day and use that bright beautiful color screen a bunch. Those things suck batt life. Using the network/modem especially. But still, watching a half-dozen VCast movies a day and browsing the news and stuff during the day and I still go 2-3 days between overnight charges.

Either it might be time for a new batt or perhaps going to the extended on...

i use my phone a bunch in a day, its usually off the charger for 15 or 16 hours a day. i usually play video poker on it for an hour a day. and talk on it around 3 hours a day. so, yes i do use it a lot. the reason i havent gotten an extended battery is, they told me my leather case wouldnt work for the phone any more, and i dont want to go without that.

Ah... understandable... I use the VZW belt clip, which was designed for either batt. One of these days, when my orig batt eventually goes to the point I really notice it, I'll likely go with the big one as my upgrade...
