Ok so i got my .07 update on my 8100. If anyone could tell me how to transfer the music onto my phone so it's viewable under the manage music selection. I don't have a data cable, just a card readers and i'm not really wanting to buy a cable so if you could let me know how to do this could you give me a "how to" ? 😁

If your using the MP3 player vs. the VCAST Music you cannot use that feature. You can put music on your card with the reader to use with the MP3 player, but you can't make playlists, etc. not even if you are using the VCAST Music player and putting songs on in the WMA format. The only way to use that is to use the VCAST Music and either download songs from your handset (which by the way, you can only do if you have VCAST service and subscribe to it) or sync the music with WMP10 and the data cable that comes with the Music Essentials Kit. Another thing, if you don't have VCAST in your area, you can still sync music w/ the cable and WMP10, BUT you cannot use the playlists and such if you don't have VCAST service.

New to phone, new to mp3 players, not a clue about Vcast, etc.
Apparently the 8100 I'm trying has v4 (it requires wma files) - I don't have anything but phone service. I put an album on miniSD and the Manage Music works with it.
Are you saying that if I get v7, I'll lose this ability? (I have absolutely no plans of using ever using Vcast.)
...
Well, first of all, you said you have V04, if so than it does not require WMA files, but rather MP3. WMA format is for the V07 VCAST Music. If you get V07, you can easily switch back to MP3 player.

Okay, remember I basically said "not a clue, here"?
So, if my phone is recognizing wma files, it's got v7? v7 of what?
I can use the Manage Music function with a cd I ripped & copied onto the miniSD. Earlier posts seem to indicate that functionality is lost with mp3 files, even on v7. Right?
