I thought (possibly incorrectly) that Sprint uses T-CAS (tin cans and string) for their mobile system.
(That's probably why their tech guys can't figure it out,...it's too complex a system.)
I used to love those tin cans as a kid, not a bad way to get a new phone company started...on the cheap.
I had the Treo 600 when it first came out from Handspring. Sprint was the only company that had the phone then. I was already with Verizon, but I wanted to give Sprint a try because of the phone and their rates, which were by far the best at the time.
It ended up taking 5 days before Sprint could get the phone programed for basic phone and web service, spending about 3-5 hours a day on the phone with them, mostly on hold during the hand-offs.
