Battery Life Treo 650 vs i730? Does the i730 lose?
According to a recent review of the 1730 on the Wall Street Journal, the battery on the i730 sucks compared to the 650. Is there any confirmation out there? This is a major deciding factor for me.
Here is the link to the review:

The nice thing about the i730 is that it will come with 2 batts.Already 1 up on the Treo

I have my I730 for a week and so far, it will not last one day w/o recharging. The tech at VZ says that is because it is so good to play with that u use up the batter y quickly. I did not buy it to play with it.
In addition, the email should come and go immed but he says I have to do a manual synch or wait 15 mins. That is ridiculous. Thoughts or ideas anyone? Thanks in advance.

I have had mine for just over a week now and have the same problem. I believe they threw a spare in because they knew it sucks alot of juice. I really like this phone however one of the big negatives is battery life. This of course depends on how you are using it. I have the unlimited data plan and I like being able to be on-line wherever I am. If you surf alot the extended battery may last beteen 1/2 to a full day. Even worse battery life for those users wanting to use WI-FI. Typically 3 hours is about all you get on a charge (of course you have the second battery).

Yep, battery life is terrible. I spent $100 in chargers just so I could have one with me at all times. I love everything else about this phone, but if battery life is truly a deciding factor for you know that it is really bad.

hate to say it the treo 650 wins in this area. but the i730 is such a good device i don't care. if you get the 730 invest in a car charger because you will need it. go with the 730 over the treo.

I read some real good news about battery life the other day. With Windows Magneto (this will be upgraded, but it will be a long time) the power consumption will be drastically less. It uses Flash-Rom to store memory which uses much less power and which will allow the batteries to totally drain (currently the batteries only drain to about 30-50% before you get the warning light to recharge because if they went all the way dead you would lose your data). As an i730 owner (well I will be in the next month) this is something to look forward to in the future....

What is the difference between Windows Magneto and Windows Mobile 5.0? I thought 5.0 performs similar power-saving operations as Magneto.

They are the same thing. Magneto was just the codename for it before it was released.... Sorry for the confusion.
