Samsung SCH-i730
False Advertising, Misleading or what?
I went to my local Verizon store to buy this phone yesterday and they said we have to order it or that I could order it myself from their website. What? 😳 That is not what their website says. Unless I missed something the website specifically states "Available in Stores July 7th". It did not say that the demos are only available in stores for trial. I went to 4 different stores trying to buy the phone and eventually talked to one guy who stated "that is the way Verizon is currently selling them". Verizon could have made it more clear stating this on their website. If they did it must be in fine print somewhere.

At least you got to see demos. I went to 2 vzw stores yesterday and neither of them even had demos.

I called them on Wed, the 6th (Portland) and they had it in. They also had a demo one. When I went in I asked a guy if they had them and he said no, then he asked another VW rep and he said yes.

Just checked the closed Verizon Wireless store by me and they also don't carry it and don't even have a demo in store to check out. Dissapointing.

Check the stores in So. Cal. Got mine on July 4 and all the stores I called (about 6) all had them in stock on the 4th, only 1 would sell it though before yesterday. When I got mine they had already sold 4 others.

This is exactly how Verizon handled the i700. I had to order mine from the store then wait a day or 2 for it to show up FedEx. Even then, when I had a problem, NONE OF THE TECHS in any Verizon store could help. Always got the same answer, "You have to call the data dept, here's the toll free #".
Imagine, you buy a carrier's most expensive phone and you can't get help in their stores? F**K ME, BULLSH*T !!!!!! No doubt the i730 will be handled exactly the same way. Aside from all of the above nonsense, I'm on my 6th i700 in 2 years which makes me leary about trusing a Samsung PDA and Verizon (together) again.
These are just some of the reasons I'm leaning towards the Treo 650. All the comparison research I've done and all the play...

If you want a camera, go buy a friggin camera and stop complaining. You know the phone doesn't have a camera and may NEVER have one. That's like bitching to a dealer that you want a car that's not a convertible to be a convertible...

There will be a camera version. The only question is when.... People just need to be more patient. Some people have been saying in the next 10 days, but my guess would be longer....
I heard from a reputable source that there will be a camera but lets be logical for a second. The camera version is available (carrier dependent), which is why there is a hole for it on the back of the phone. People want a camera version. Verizon wants to make money so they will come out with a camera version so they can sell more phones. If anyone says that it doesn't matter, it does because if it didn't people wouldn't be bringing it up every five minutes. There are even business persons that need cameras for their work (especially in real estate)....

One posting quoted some Samsung sales or tech manager as saying the phone will not have a camera because it destabilizes the OS too much. Nothing was said about WM5 fixing the problem. I hope this guy is full of crap, because I could use the camera. The XV6600 has had a lot of problems with crashing. Maybe the cameras that are in some of the units have something to do with the problem.
