Nokia 6682 / 6681
Firmware Upgrade
Looks like we will need to grin and bear it for awhile, this version of the firmware.
I finally decided to call Nokia inquiring about the availability of a newer release of firmware for this phone. I really didn't expect any, the phone being so new. But at least they have another record to log of a problem with this phone. She said that if they get too many (what that number is she didn't say and I didn't ask), they will send out an alert. Great! And alert... SEND ME OUT SOME NEW AND IMPROVED FIRMWARE 👿 LOL
Anyway, doing a search on the Nokia site didn't find any authorized Nokia service centers within 50 miles of me. Surprising, my living in Los Angeles. At least she found
one that is right up the street from me. When the time comes, I really don't want to send my phone to Nokia and wait 15 - 20 days for it to come back.
Called and spoke with a technician there. He kept asking me, what phone *lol* He hadn't even heard of it yet. Said he would call back, which he did in minutes. Probably looked it up on the Nokia site. Agreed with me probably no new firmware available yet. He said probably be next year. NEXT YEAR ?? LOL
Said best he could do for me is flash it. Even at that, I would have to get the flash cable as he did not have one for this phone.
But I don't think that will buy me anything.
So... just thought I would share that info here. As long as it is just lost call logs and the copy to sim thing... I can live with it. At least it doesn't like freeze up or anything else that I would consider worse.
For those of you that can't wait for upgraded firmware, I would suggest exchanging the phone for another within your first 30 days. Sending it back for another, the next one you get is not giong to be any better.
