Nokia 6682 / 6681
Nokia 6680 with Cingular. Anyone?
Nice phone, though. I got it last September in the flesh/off white color. Came with Opera 7.x, 128MB MMC card, PTT-ready, QuickOffice, RealPlayer for that nice VGA camera, AdobeReader and two-month trials for VirusGuard and some other stuff. No Text-to-Speech.
Just below $500.
It also has pre-set mMode for AT&T, and mMode Internet wireless configurations, so I didn't have to set it up ( I wonderif that was from my AT&T SIM or from the phone).
Anyone else?
UMTS to my understanding it actually WCDMA2000, does it run only on 1900? I've heard of some carriers in europe moving to 450. Also to my knowledge, when the merger happened, Cingular sold it's 1900 towers to T-mobile, that was the big push for operation independence, please enlighten me on the return to 1900.....thanks...
vpu2....OUT!!!!
There were markets where we owned more that we are allowed after the merger, and in those markets we did sell some spectrum.
In Detroit for instance, we had to sell 10mHz and it was sold to Metro PCS who should be offering service sometime in 06 or 07.
A few yrs back we did a spectrum swap with TMO and that is how we launched the NYC market. If memory serves me correctly, it was the same amount, 10mHz.
I've only read a little about 450. I don't think it will be used state-side.
Yes, UMTS is WCDMA, and to my understanding, runs on 1900.
Thanks for that link, very informative. I'm still questioning the 1900 tower cell issue. Our trainers were very clear (or spitting out total garbare), that the 1900 towers & service were being phased out as the towers (at least in the west market) were sold to T-mobile. Thus the birth of project independence, which is designed to get affordable 850 handsets into peoples hands who might not otherwise make the switch. We were also told that we were now "leasing" time off of those towers, which is costing Cingular a bundle. I also notice in the article, that UMTS will run on both 850 & 1900, which presents another question I'll have to sort out. The 450 I mentioned, I don't believe will be used in the U.S., if I remember correctly, t...
