Just a follow up to my previous post. I had said my 6682 worked fine for the first 3 weeks...then it went crazy with losing voice tags, call logs, turning itself off in the middle of the night. Well, it's been working absolutely perfect now for the last 4 days...no problems at all. I wish I could take the credit, but it seems to have fixed itself. I ordered a 32k SIM from a local Cingular rep (got it for free) but haven't picked it up yet....maybe I won't have too! So I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything is ok now.

I don't think it's ever "Back to normal" with a 64k chip as of now.
Until firmware gets updated to accomidate the wacky specs of the 64k chip you are better off going with a 32k chip every time. I popped a friend's 64k chip into my phone and got the copy sim contacts a few times as I shut the phone on and off etc... Put mine back in and haven't had a problem since, that was 2 weeks ago.
Since Day 1 I have had no complaints about bugs with this phone, it's been behaving flawlessly and I truly believe that it has to do with the SIM card. If your phone is giving you headaches, go to a cell phone shop and buy a 32k card or even better get it on ebay. If your phone is still giving you issues, send it in. once your replacement comes back it ...

Agreed. One interesting side note...I've never had the "copy sim contacts" problem that most are having. I've never lost any contacts either. My main problems were losing voice tags for contacts, volume resetting, and the phone powering itself off every night. I think I'm going to stop by and pickup that 32k card just in case. It was free after all.

But aren't the 32 SIMS made for different areas of the country? You saying I can just go to Ebay and buy a 32k SIM card and it will work for my 6682.
...
I have heard they are, but I'm not qualified to answer that. I did not purchase the 32k SIM from eBay, I got it from the local Cingular store.

I would have to agree, it should not matter where it came from or where you are.

I bought mine on eBay ($7.95 including shipping) and it came from N.Y., I'm in Ca.
Had Cing activate and it works fine.
My local Cing store didn't have any. I called into Cing and they placed an order for one for me. It's been on backorder ever since, and that was about a month ago.
As loong as you find one cheap on eBay, I would say go for it.

letstalk has it for 359.99 with free shipping and amazon when they had it had it for 369.99 free shipping. of course this is just the phone itself with no plans

I was talking the 32k sim, not the phone.

I had read somewhere that one of the differences between 64k vs 32k sim is that the 64k is able to use the closest of either cingular or at&t towers where the 32k can't. thereby setting up the possibility that for instance an at&t tower can be across the street but your using a cingular tower miles away with poor reception. If what I read is true couldn't this be a result of using a 32k? How is your reception with it? again I don't know this to be fact, I myself don't know my antenna from my sim card ( ok I do but not much more)

hmmm..yeah i was just thinkin also..theres gotta be a downside to using 32k
