New Firmware 4.6.2............AVAILABLE!!!!!!!!
đ I just got off the phone with, CINGULAR "warranty exchange" 800-801-1101, according to the supervisor, they have some 6682's, and they are supposed to have the new firmware on them....... 0.00 for ground shipment.....7.50 express (1-2 days)

My hopes would be a "NEW ONE" but realistically, it could be a refurb.......

I've had these problems as well with mine. I actually just got off the phone with cingular to exchange mine for a different reason (signal problem) but I will be receiving mine in 2 days and I need to know how to check what version of firmware I have on this new phone.
Cingular has a habit of screwing me over so I need to check this out!

cool just ordered one through warranty..hope the new firmware fixing other minor stuff like the overall speed through the menu and freezing up etc. hopefully get it tomorrow

Any word if this new firmware will be available for download to the old phones? I just got one from letstalk.com for $99 and it is working great (ie none of the for mentioned problems with the old firmware) but it would be nice to have the newer version...

no u cannot download it..u must send it to nokia or do a replacement warranty

Thanks for the info!! Now i'm sure this has been answered before, but how long does it take if you send it back to Nokia? If i choose to go the other route and do a warranty replacement, does this cost anything?

if u send it to nokia it prob will take a while. week to a month?? warranty exchange u can get one next day for $7.50 and 2 days for 3.50 and free for reg shipping 3-5 days

Thanks for the info!! Someone just posted they received one with the new firmware from letstalk.com. Since it's been less than 30 days i am just going to return the one i have and hopefully pick up one with the new firmware!! I will report back how it turns out!!

The experience I had with "NOKIA" warranty, if you don't have to many problems, they'll fix your phone and return it to you within about 7-10 "business days" (about 2 weeks to you and I)..............IF however the problems are numerous or can't be fixed, they'll send you a repaired phone (refurbished) as a replacement with a letter explaining they could not repair your phone...

Is Cingular Warranty Exchange picky? I'm waiting on my New 6682 but i'm scared that they might put up a fuss. I have a small nick in the upper left corner of the phone. I don't wanna be charged for another ya know. đ

ok i just got my new phone through warranty exchange and its the old firmware ...wtf! should i keep the new one and deal with it or just return it since i have all my apps installed on the old one plsu all the settings to my likings and wait for the new firmware?

The firmware is nokia firmware not cingular.
I have a local guy here in Tampa that is an auth Nokia Service center.
He is going to flash mine with the upgraded Firmware for me. I have to wait for him to get some factory "dongle" as he calls it though.
and getting this think is like pulling chicken teeth... he ordered it from Nokia USA in Texas now he has to wait for nokia home office to approve the release of this proprietary nokia hardware etc...
hopefully it will be in today...

What is the date of the firmware?
It will appear as: 28-10-05 or something similar, it's right below the firmware number.
For those of us that have been following this issue, that date (28-10-5) means they either began working on, or finished, the firmware 10/28/2005. The phone was released in mid - late sept, which means, when NOKIA & Cingular was telling us "we've not heard about this issue".................THEY WERE F'ING LYING!!!!!
