NO RINGER ID?

I saw this where you compare the phone and the 9800 not have ringer id, I assume this means you can't give all your frinds different ringers, well that stinks.

Serious? Can someone who has this phone confirm this?? If so, it really blows...the basic phones from like 8 years ago have this feature!

I know exactly what you are talking about. There was a thread on Howard Forums where someone asked a similar question and one guy said it does have ringer ID. I wonder why it wasn't included on the specs - I saw it, too, and thought it was strange...

now im thinkin that ringer id and caller id is the same.
if that is the case.
I reconcile that most folks think that the ringer id is automatic. Your contract addition provides for caller id. The phone is capeable will you pay the fee to recieve the caller id info?

Am i still in the dark or is that the way it is now still?

Ringer ID and Caller ID is NOT the same. Ringer ID is what tune plays when someone calls. You can set a different one for everyone in your contact list if you want!
Caller ID displays the number on the screen of who is calling, or the name if you have it saved in your contacts.

Ringer ID most definately IS automatic on cell phones. It's not like a landline phone where you not only have to have a calller ID capable phone, but also have to subscribe to the service. I guess you ARE still in the dark.

I intend to buy this vx9800 phone and dig myself out of the darkness. I now have the LG 4400 and i am at the 2 year update time tomorrow.

Well let me help you guys out about the ringer id. You have to make sure you are saving your numbers with the area code or else the ringer id will not recognize the caller. although this is differnt from previous LG phones it is becoming more and more common for people to have to store your contacts with area codes.

Over at another forum a user posted tis about ringers for each contact..."I love the announce and ring feature. when someone from my phonebook calls, it announces the name of the person, type (mobile, home....) of number and then converts to my trusty mp3 of my my, hey hey (neil young)."...I think the user means that it plays his MP3 as a ringer.
