I tried to do it for my friend's 9800 w/ no luck. I paired her 9800 just fine to my pc w/ my bluetooth USB adapter, but Bitpim didn't list the 9800 so I tried putting in 8100 and also putting in "other CDMA phone" to no avail. Didn't work.

IM using 7.24 i havent bothered to try a newer version works with my sisters vx6100 worked when i had a 7000 and 8000 and now the 9800 works fine no issues at all. You dont need to select the phone with this bitpim version just install the usb drivers for the usb cable they all use the same version and it works great just set bitpim to use com 4.

just wait about a month and bit pim will have the 9800 in the new version. they are pretty quick with updates. but its pretty close to the 8100 and the 8000 so i would try either of those first.

So i guess the question is. Does the 0.7.37 software version support the same as the 7.24?
It seems the concensus is that the data cable for the vx6100 is the one to buy if everything else is = .

1 - The cable for VX6100 / 7000 / 8000 / 8100 and 9800 is same...

2 - USB drivers for the 9800 can be found at Howard Forums

3 - Currently, Bitpim does NOT support 9800. However, you can still view the 9800's directories under Filesystem. You can even add Ringtones, Wallpapers etc using Bitpim to your 9800. There's no need to use the "Auto Detect Phone" feature because the 9800 won't be listed.

Having said so, I'd still wait till Bitpim releases an update to include the 9800 officially, even if the software on the 9800 is similar to 8100 in many aspects.

I too feel like the wait for actual support for this phone via Bitpim is a wise decision. prying and prowling is fun for some especially those who can afford to buy a new one when the current one smokes. However some real valuable info has been shared here and no doubt many hours of hard fought info trial and error to get, so they can share with us here. Also would like to see compilation of that usefull data folks have enumerated here into a FAQ sticky if thats possible.

I agree. I don't come to the site often enough to look at every single post and when I have some spare time on the weekend to tweak my phone and play with its gadgets, I don't have an hour just to read everything. A FAQ sticky would be PERFECT.

Thanks for the info, but you can make changes also to your Pictures and Flix using this method.

Also I have uploaded 10+ ringtones at one time without trouble.

Finally I currently have 25 ringtones on my phone. I think the limit is only due to the 3MBs of ringtone limit the phone has.
