☹️

Seems like the battery life on vx9800 sucks. My battery is dying in less than 24hrs. I charged the battery 24 hours the first time I got it and let run out of die out completely. Last night I charged it at 730pm and didn't use the phone at all. I woke this morning at 10am and the battery meter is at half. How much battery life is everyone is getting?

How are yo using the phone? I charged mine up Friday night, used it a lot on Saturday and it was near dead by 10PM...had to charge it up for the night, only took about 1 hour to fully charge back up for the night....got home around 3AM and charged it up fully....
...you should have 24hrs+ of standby if you do not use your phone, do not...

Last night I charged it at 730pm and I woke up this morning at 10am and the battery meter is at half. I didn't use the phone once. Its 1pm now and I made about 15 minutes worth of calls and now the phone has 1 battery bar left. 2 phone calls in 18 hrs and the battery is almost dead? thats crazy!! Seems 24 hr stand by doesn't bother you. it bothers the hell out of me.

Do you live in a evdo area. If not your phone is continuously searching for evdo and draining down your battery. There is a very simple fix for it.

That means that it is searching for evdo service. I live in nw washington and mine does the same thing. You can turn evdo off by opening the phone and hiting the menu button and pressing 0000000 then 3 then 1 and select either digital only non hybrid or 1x only. Give it a shot and see what happens.

Can you explain to me what the benefits of having EVDO on or off? Aslo what is the difference between digital only non hybrid and 1x only. I did what you said and I will gauge the battery life with D on non-h only and then I will try it with 1x only. What do yo have it set to and how much battery life are you getting?

i think turning EVDO disables your VCast and MoblieWeb capabilities. For this 3G phone has 2 digital lines, the 1X and EVDO. 1X being your normal service and reception line. EVDO being your broadband line that accepts transfers from VCAst and MoblieWeb

Dont know how much battery life you save. I suggest getting a NEW battery?

I think there is something wrong with this persons battery or phone. I live in a non EVDO area and I have excellent battery life.

Try turning off the evdo and I bet that you will get between 20 or 30% better battery life. It's like having your phone going in and out of extended network or searching for service. Same goes the evdo and it will drain your battery abnormally. 🙂

I have found that using the Web on this phone really eats up the battery. I ran a test using other functions when my battery level hit one bar: I was able to play a 20 minute video and over 1.5 hours of MP3 music before the phone turned off. This was actually more than I expected.

I inteend to get an extended battery when they become available for this phone. I have found that the battery lasts about three days using just phone functions but I need to hit the charger daily when I play waround with the web or videos.

you mentioned you watched a 20 minute video. I thought you could only watch short video clips with this phone. I don't have this phone yet so I don't know.

I'm not sure why the battery on your phone is dying so quickly I use my phone often and I rarely have to chage it my battery last for about 2 days before I have to charge it.. I use the MP3 player often

Yeah I agree. I send about 50 texts a day... get online, screw around on v-cast and probably put about 30 minutes of talk time on it and two nights ago I went to bed with it on one bar, woke up with it on one bar and went the entire day without changing my useage on one bar. Around 10pm it beeped low battery and died. That is my only complaint about the battery. I think it has great life, but when it says low battery... it dies on the spot. I didn't even make a call on it and it died within 10 minutes. My old a670 would hold a flashing battery without use for about 90 minutes.

I've listen to about 3 hours of music each day..watch about 1 hours of straight non stop video. Web browse for about 30 min, make about 25 min of phone call everyday and by the end of a 16 hour day. the batt is at 1 bar..and prob will need recharge very soon. if i just leave the phone and only make 25 min of phone call, it can last me 48+ ...i duno why people say EVDO drains batt. it doesnt drain mine O_O
