YOU CANNOT SET MP3'S OR SOUNDS AS RINGTONES!
This has been asked too many times, so I wanted to post this thread and say this one time instead of answering all the same question over and over again!
The only way that you can set MP3's as ringtones is to use a program called Bitpim:

(PLEASE NOTE: Bitpim currently does not support the 9800, but will soon. When a new phone comes out it takes them a few weeks to get it in the system).
You will also need either a data cable or a Bluetooth USB adapter to connect your phone to your PC.

you CAN set mp3 as a ringer BUT it's not easy... You have to save as a .mid and use Bitpim to copy the file to the correct phone direcory. It's all explained in another thread. I've done it and it works.
