Lithiom Polymer batter
the 9800 has the new type of battery called Lithiom Polymer. What does that mean for battery life. I know with the other types of batteries, you can't charge them overnight or over charge them, only charge them for a few hours or until they say fully charged and then take them off the charger. How does this new battery change things?

You can charge them whenever you like, they have no memory....the basic rule is to fully charge the battery the first time. I usually do it overnight, but I think 8 hours is the min....after that your on your own to do as you like.

Not only can you charge it overnight, but you can charge it up for 30 mins if you just need a quick boost and it will be fine.
The key is to give it a good charge the first time you get it. You can do that with as little as 4 hours, but I would recommend at least 8hrs or overnight whichever is greater.

Mainly from past experience with them, they are very similar to the Lith-Ion batteries found in many things such as IPODS, Pocket PC's etc....the main difference as mentioned above is that they and be molded into many different shapes, and they are very light....they also do not need to be discharged every now and then like the Lit-Ion battery's sometimes do.....here is a write up on the Lit-Ion battery which the Lit-Poly is based upon....

Oh yeah, one more thing....the average life of LIO POLY is around 1.5 years, do if you keep this phone for a few years, plan on buying a new battery for it.

You can't overcharge the battery. If you plug it in and it says fully charged after 2 hours and you don't unplug it for 10, it doesn't matter. It will not hurt it. It will stop charging when it's complete and can't overcharge.

The main porpose of the li poly is that they can shapre the batt. in diffrent ways that you can not do reg.batts
