hey LGphoneman,
i was at the bitpim site a while ago reading up on their updates for the program and it said that they support the 9800 now with this new version. would we still need to dl those lg drivers or can would it be safe to say that the phone will now work with bitpim using the new version?

What allot of people cant seem to get is that the drivers are more for the cable rather than the phone. When you plug in a new usb device into your PC it will try to find some type of software to install. That is where the drivers come in. It will allow your PC to see the USB cable and What it is connected to. It installs 3 drivers

One for the USB port. One for the serial port support.And the last one is the driver for the phone so that if you are using it with a laptop it will see your phone ,when hooked up, as a modem. The last one is my favorite. So yes to answer your question you will always need the drivers
