IM not sure, But I think Verizon is eventually goin to try to disable mp3 playback from sd card on this phone with one of their updates. SO we can use GIN. Any Opinions on this?? Also look at this... https://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=15 37

The firmware update will allow the phone to be Music on Demand capable. This does however disable MP3 playback since MOD is wma. 😲

my 9800 went into inconplete startup yesterday. It got stuck on the "Verizon Wireless" logo with the indicator light on. I brought it down to verizon tech and they are sending me a new one with the updated software.l They say that it prevents this problem from happening again. I am still concerned about other functionality I might loose but unfortunately I hvae no choice.

does anyone know for sure if the mod software for the 9800 completely disables mp3's, or if it just hides them like the 8100? either way, you can still put music on the phone for free, you just have to convert the format. definitely a pain but not the end of the world.

Version 2 doesn't hide mp3. It is still there. MOD is actually hidden. Version 3 will be MOD upgrade.
