Big MP3 problem

I have a good amount of Itunes downloaded and ripped stuff from Itunes also along with some other files I have ripped with Musicmatch Jukebox and when I try to put these said files on my MiniSD card it continuosly says "No songs found on Memeory card" Now I've formated my card, have had working songs on the card before from older MP3's on my computer, but for some reason I just can't get the newer Itunes and Musicmatch songs to play on my MiniSD card. What I don't get is that they are all .mp3. Is there something I am doing wrong or should I be using another program or what. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you sure you don't have the new software update for the phone? If...

how does one even check what version you have currently installed?

Go to "menu" then "settings and tools" then "system" then "device info" then "SW Version" and it will be the first item on the list. V03 is the version with MOD. Most 9800's out there have v01 on them.

Well, that all depends on 2 things:

1. Is the update available in your market yet? As far as I know it is not available in many markets.

2. Do you want to have the ability to download MP3's from Verizon's Music On Demand service?

If the answer is yes to both of those, then get the update, but remember, it disables the phone's ability to read .mp3 files from your memory card. You will only be able to play .wma files. Now, there may be a fix to this, but, I'm not sure if it will work on the 9800 yet.

Its really no big deal if you do get the update. You just have to convert your .mp3 files to .wma's. No real issue.

Personally, I thought it would suck, but, the more I think about it, it might be cool to get a song on my phone whenever the heck I feel like it. I dunno.

Yes....once you get the update, you will be able to read .wma only instead of being able to read .mp3 like you can currently.

However, there is probably going to be an easy to re-enable the .mp3 capability in the secret menu just as you can with the 8100.

I have songs on my card that work already and I do have Version 1. What's funny is that its just that any older songs that I have on my computer work just fine (from like a year or so ago), but I think since my GF got an ipod, Itunes just sorta took over so anything since then just doesn't load onto the card. I've reformatted the card, I've tried to rip stuff with other programs and still doesn't work. This is just very frustrating. I'm sure its not the songs, I know they are .Mp3 but maybe just something is up with my computer. Maybe somethings set up wrong...who knows. Guess its a unique problem...I dunno, this sucks.

ITunes does not use .mp3. It uses .mpeg4 (otherwise known as .aac files). That is your problem.

i personally hate ipod and all their itunes crap..

i try to stay away as best as i can, plus their ripping options are not 100% completely lossless, so i use EAC instead.

I love my ipod. I think it is possibly the best thing since sliced bread.

pay downloads from itunes use aac but you can use itunes to rip mp3's from your cd's and they should work fine. just go to
edit
preferences
importing
switch the "import using" setting to mp3 and you should get mp3's that play fine on the 9800. probably nothing but you are putting the files in the "MY_MP3" folder not just on the disk in general right?

Yea, I put it into the My_Mp3. Like I said I have Mp3's on my card that I can listen to fine now. Even the stuff that was burned w/ itunes doesn't work along with the pay stuff. But even when I ripped from MusicMatch Jukebox I had the same problem in the card not reading the file on the phone. I will have to try playing w/ the preferences and keep trying. Thanks for the help.
