Curious to know, this is what is basically going to be the deal breaker for me..although a small thing here...i like it... If you get sent a multimedia message and have a sound attached to it, can u set it as a ringtone? LIke i use mobile17.com where u send them the file u wanna use and u can start the file at the certain time specified and you can choose how long u want it on for between 5 and 40 seconds, and they will send u the file in proper .mid form. Can this be done with the "V"? Thanks in advance

i am not sure and i dont know how to help you

I have never done what you want to do.. so i dont know...

if the sound that comes into your phone is saved into your "MY RINGTONES" folder then you automatically set it as your ringtone.

But if it goes into your "MY SOUNDS" folder then you have 2 options. 1: Figure out a way through Bitpim to transfer MY SOUNDS files to MY RINGTONES folder. I dont know if this is possible, but if it does, then you are set.

2: Move the sound file to your SD card if you have one, and then use an miniSD adaptor, grab the mid file from your phone to your computer. Then use bitpim and load up the mid to your ringtones folder...

I really dont know a better way. anyone else might know? have some experi...

wud u mind trying for me? if u will this is what you do.. (it will cost you one picture message)

1. go to mobile17.com
2. register (please)
3. create mega/super/real tones
4. Choose send in pix
5. Choose sound file from your hardrive
6. Enter where u want it to start and end
7. enter how long you want it to run for.
8. click send
NOTE* although it might be like an 80 minute wait or something just do it, you can x out the screen or w/e, just wait for it.
If you do do it, i appreciate it. If you dont thank you anyway i appreciate all you help.

NO YOU CANNOT. The only way to add ringtones to the 9800 is via Get-It-Now or a usb cable and suitable software.
Mailing messages or Pix or any other thing like that will not result in the sound file being usable as a ringtone without going through some file manipulation via cable and software.

Software is free --> www.bitpim.com
Cables can be had a lot of places -- e-bay, verizon...

You might want to wander over to Howards Forums and poke around in there -- a h3ll of a lot more accurate info in there. Try this link to start....
