Aim on Phone
i know you guys proably discussed this 1 millions times but im new to this , how is the AOL instant messenger on this ? do you have full buddy list like the sidekick ?

AIM has been working fine for me, but for some reason I can only see one group of buddies and not the groups I've created myself. Also getting someones info or reading their away messages requires sending them an IM. I don't know if you can change that but everything else has been great.

unfortunately... it seems as though you have a complete understanding of the full capabilities of mobile aim

Does your phone ring or make any sort of sound when your buddies come online or send you a message? I logged on the other night and didnt have any buddies online. About 20 minutes later I flipped open the phone to see if anyone had logged on and there was a conversation message sitting there! I had no way of knowing it was there! I also hit the refresh buddy list and that doesn't do anything for me. I guess it will only show me who IS online and not show me my whole list. On the flipside, YAHOO messenger will show me my whole list even if no one is online.

Tried it again today...was online with AIM on my computer and had several buddies online. I logged off then logged on to AIM on my phone and it showed no buddies online! Why is this????? Refresh My buddy list does nothing for me.

I noticed that I only have certain buddies on my list when I sign in on my phone. And it may be due to the fact that I have different buddy groups. That could be the problem you're having too.
To solve this, I plan to make one big buddy list and not divide my buddies into seperate groups so I can see who is online or not. I also recieve an IM sound, although very faint and can't seem to ajust its volume, when people send me an IM. Also, it vibrates when buddies send me an IM, which is an option you can turn on and off in your settings.

Maybe if you have like 200 buddies and there are 50 people online, it cant show all of the online either, or can it load all of them? Its slow. Maybe making a smaller buddy list would help.

Well I called Verizon today which so far was of no help. They asked me if I had more than 20 people in my buddy list (on my computer). I only have 12 people and of the 12 only 3-4 of them are online on a daily basis.
Here is another strange thing. I logged into AIM on my phone through another user name I have and I saw one of my buddies listed n the OFFLINE section for that user name. None is listed for the name I use on a daily basis.
I will try the vibrate option to see if that works.
