L6 Display option question

I know I ranted about the poor Motorola manual on my L6 review, and I'll probably rant here some more here, 😁 J/K

Just wondering if anyone knows how to keep the display from shutting down when the phone is not in use. With my old Nokias, the display just dims down to conserve battery, but does not shut off completely.

The Motorola manual noted to just turn off the "Display Timeout", which I did, but the screen still goes completely black just after a few seconds of non-use, and then a few seconds later, the screen-saver comes on, but also just for a few seconds and then the screen goes black again. It doesn't matter whether my keys are locked or unlocked. Anyone know how to change this option or is it just inherent to Motorola phones?

Even when I'm not using the phone, sometimes I would just like to look at the screen to, eg: check the time, see if I have any msgs, etc.

It's still on. Just VERY VERY dark. Hold it up to a light, you'll be able to see it. It's just when the back light goes off, it becomes very dark and hard to see.. when the display time out goes off, it goes completely black. Hard to tell the difference though, unless you have lots of light.
