i heard verizon released that new thing where you can download mp3 for $1 from them but i heard the transflash cards are disabled on some of the phones now so you can't put your own mp3's on them???? is that true??

Not true. Imagine the legal backlash.
Shipping a product with a functioning feature. Then all the thousands that buy the product spend money on accessories (in this case TF/MicroSD cards). Then the company releases an "upgrade" that cuts out the functionality for which thousands of customers bought accessories for.
Legal issues galore. Won't happen.

you will still be able to use the card you will just have to make all the mp3s into the wmma to play them though and they said something about a license that comes with each song that can only be on that phone not on any other

If you bought the 950 on Monday or after, got a fru replacement Monday or after or took your 950 in on Monday or after and got it flashed, then you have the VCAST Music software on your phone. With this, you can use the VCAST Music service to put music onto your phone (if you have VCAST in your area) with or without the TF card. The buttons on the front will work with the VCAST Music. If you want to put your own songs on the card, you can no longer put MP3's on, they need to first be converted to VMA's. If you use Windows Media 10, they will automatically convert your MP3's into VMA's. There is other ways to do it also, but this is the ONLY way to put music on. All my MP3's are using Musicmatch to play on my PC right now. I do have Windows Media Player 10. So if I want to turn my MP3's into VMA's do I just change windows media player to be the default player??? Or how do I convert mp3's into vma format?
