Sony Ericsson W600i / W550i
Picture Clarity??
Im not sure if there is a problem with my handset or I am just expecting too much from the w600i. My old phone, which was the sharp tm-150, had a macro switch on the side, you would switch it down for close photos (1-3 inches) or up for regular photos (a few feet away) and it took remarkably clear photos in either case. I recently upgraded to the sony ericsson w600i expecting an even better camera, since this is a 1.3 mega pixel and my old phone was just a 1 megapixel. However, the picture quality seems not as impressive with the ericsson, especially up close. On my old tm 150 i could take a photo up close of a tv guide listing or any text for that matter and it would come out crystal clear, but it seems that with the w600i the closer i get to the object the blurrier the photo looks. earlier i took a photo of the standard size text in my psych book from about 5 inches away and i could not read the text in the photo, if this is the camera's best ability than i guess its ok, but if anyone else can take very clear close proximity photos i would like to know so i can exchange my phone (also if i do exchange it, will i recieve a new one or a refurbished one? are refurbished ones just as good?) thanx in advance

Have you messed with any of the settings for picture quality? It defaults to 640x480.

you need to check the settings on the phone
from the main menu go to camera
settings and then the piture size and make sure you are the biggest settings. I have the sony s710a that has the same camera and I love it after reading your note I checked my carmera out to see how mine would work on taking pics of text and my is very good. If you do a XBM you might get a refurb but the phone is still very new.

I checked, the size is set to 1280 x 1024, the largest that is available, and picture quality is set to fine yet i still cannot take picture of close up text clearly, from an inch to several inches away,text comes out blurry (like when trying to take a picture of a phone book listing or something similar) however, all other photos taken from a foot to several feet away are very clear, should i return the phone and chance recieving a refurbished, possibly damaged one? (if youd like i can e-mail a picture of some text taken at close range, so that someone may tell me if it is my phone that is defective or that simply that is the best the phone can do at close range) thanx
