Multimedia options

Razrnewbie

I followed Jay's instructions and installed phone tools and the Driver tool. After I upgraded the MPT to version 3.28, I connected the Razr and it found my phone with no problems. I was able to backup and snyc my contacts no problem.

However, the multimedia option in the menu is grayed out and not able to be selected. Does anyone know how to make this option work.

Live update says that my MPT is totally up to date.

Thanks for the help.

After your system has recognized your phone, go to System Properties on your computer / hardware / device manager / modems, click the + to expand modems. You should see:
Motorola USB Modem
Double click Motorola USB Modem
Under "General" you should see:
Location _ (Motorola V3c)
Then check "Driver" and you should see:
Motorola
10/17/2005
Ver. 3.4.0.0

That's about as much help as I can give. When I plug my V3c in and launch MPT, everything is there and eveything works. Somehow it was all too easy. My thanks to many on this forum for information, suggestions and help in general. I couldn't be happier.

I have been reading your comments and appreciate very much your help. I did everything you suggested. My device driver reads ver. 3.4.0.0 as you said (except the "location" has a zero instead of an underscore). I updated to MPT version 3.28. The phone looks just like my V3c, and I'm able to sync contacts and appointments with no problems. However, the multimedia button is "grayed" (unavailable). Therefore, I cannot transfer pictures or other files between the computer and the phone. Do you think that this could be because my phone is one of those that does not have OBEX enabled? (Can you tell me what OBEX is?)
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks!

I just got my V3 today from Verizon and did the same things. Contacts update (via USB) but can't figure out how to transfer pics and sounds. The Multimedia Studio is greyed out on mine too.

If anyone figures this out please post.

My suspicion is that Verizon is starting to disable these features...why I don't know...
