Well, I think its time for me to upgrade, my phone is beat up and showing its age. I love Motorola and my v710 has been nothing short of awesome. The only short comings I see from the v710 are the camera (rarely used, but a nice novelty to have), and the battery life (previous phones, i710, v400, v300, and couple other Cingular TDMA Nokias). The durability has been outstanding (dropped it so the bottom half fully submerged in the puddle and it still works perfectly), and it holds a signal better then my other Verizon phones (business phone, and my mother's).
I want to stick with Motorola, since their phones have been so good to me, so I see my options are the new RAZR and the e815 if I want to keep a high profile phone. I've read a lo...

If youre just looking for reception and battery, probably the e815...only because the extended batter for that phone kicks a$$. it lasted me like 4-6 days before charging in the beginning, then about 2-3 days after a year.
the reception is about equal, and the cameras are probably about equal. I have the RAZR now and love it, but for some reason i think the e815 is a safer, more durable phone than the RAZR.
Both are great phones, very similar in quality (especially the stuff you are interested in) so either way i think youll be happy...just a matter of if you want a slim phone in your hand, or something with a little weight, and a substantial sized body.
good luck hope that helps 🙂

I have used both and I would definately say the 815.

I have used both as well and I say the razr. My 815 (both of them) were very buggy. I loved my 710 and I love my razr just as much!! I say try the 710, if you don't like it you can always swap it for an 815 (within 15 days). Good Luck and Happy New Year!!!!

I have used both and I also have to say the razr you remember can't make judgment on a phone you used for one day.

I have used both and I also have to say the razr understand you can't make judgment on a phone you used for one day. I had the e815 for 6 months and I have had the razr for 3 weeks e815 had echo problems. Eveybody has their preference what is Good for me may not be good for you.

Hmmm, I'm looking at the fact sheet, and there isn't an option for an expansion slot. Is there anyway to get custom mp3 ringtones to the phone? Moble Phone Tools didn't work for the V710, will it work with this? This is something that can make or break the decision.

MPT will work on both the E815 and V3c.. actually it works with the v710 depending on your firmware version.. you can do custom mp3 ringtones on both also.. I love the way my mp3s sound on the 815 I've read a few complaints about the mp3 ringtones on the V3c

How can I get mp3's to the VC3? I know with the v710 and the e815 it can only be done using the SD expansion card. Can it be done with MPT? Thats not much of a problem considering I have the cable and software already.
I'm leaning towards the RAZR, the real ultimate test is if it can hold a signal anywhere near as well as my v710, which works at my desk (most phones, even Verizon phones, do not). I do plan on waiting for CES though to see if there is anything new coming out soon.

I upgraded from the 710 to the RAZR and couldn't be happier. I liked the 710, but never liked it's larger size.
I use the phone to make phone calls and all of the bells and whistles don't matter much to me. I disabled EVDO on my RAZR which improved the battery life significantly. Great speakerphone and voice dial too. You might miss vibe then ring but rumor has it that a new software upgrade will fix that.
The call quality so far has been equal to, or in most cases better than my 710. I've had mine since 12/23. 🙂
