i purchased the razr for vzw the other week, and i went to an official verizon wireless store. the sales rep told me the phones battery does not last more than 90 min talk time and if you leave the house in the morning you should take your phone charger with you. i didn't believe him so i bought the phone and tried it for a few days. over the first 3 days i averaged 30 min talk time per day, no bluetooth usage i made sure it was off, and i ended up charging the phone 4 times in those three days. the battery would not last even 24 hours. so i was wondering if everyone else is having this problem or if it was just me, and if you are not how long do you talk on your phone for. when i returned the phone i asked the guy what is the return ra...

the phone was great in every aspect except for battery life, i currently have a samsung 670 and when i first got the phone the battery would last 4 to 5 days and now after 2 years still lasts about 2 days and i talk on the phone a lot with it. but when i got the razr and it couldn't get through the day i can't spend 300 on a phone that i can't depend on to work during a time i might need it for an emergency.

Maybe if they really do put out a software update the battery life will improve. With the 8100, the battery life was so-so, then when they did the first upgrade the battery life was amazing!

I've heard that pretty consistently too. An' there's no real reason to have it on unless you're gonna use it, so why not?

If you disable EVDO, be very careful! If you aren't sure of what you are doing you can really screw up your phone and void it's warranty. Verizon should dump EVDO. It's worthless. On my 8100, EVDO looked good but it just drained the daylights out of my battery. I disabled it and the phone didn't miss a beat.

Keep in mind that if you are in a fringe EVDO area, no EVDO phone is safe from battery drainage. My home area is well covered so I haven't done anything to my razor..no need to at this point. Here are my thoughts on battery performance on the 8100, 815 and razor.

The 815 will last a bit longer then the 8100 or razor. I usually got about 3 hours of talktime over 3 days. The 8100 barely got 2 hours of talk time over 3 days. ...

That is a decision you need to make. For you to take our opinion and run with it could be a big mistake. I always tell people to use a phone for about 2 weeks before you make a final decision. For my needs(call clarity and quality on both ends, plus great bluetooth) won me over. I could give a rats behind about the slow UI( and it's slow). The question is do you want a phone first ? Or do you want a gadget?

of course i want a phone first, thats why i don't like the other phones for verizon, they look like toys. and as i said i loved the razr for the few days i had it, i only use a cell phone as a cell phone, i don't need the camera, cuz i have a 7 mega pixel camera that fits just as easily into my pocket, i don't need the mp3 player cuz i got one that is 5 gigs, i don't need a pda, i got one that is great. i just want a phone that is good. that is why i liked the razr, but in my eyes a phone needs to be there when you need it, and the razr has not satisfied that request. the battery life is horrendous from my own experience. i already lost two hundred dollars on it cuz i have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for the refund check, i don't know if i want ...

None of the new phones offer great battery life out of the box. In the past, I have always used extended batteries. Every one of them. As I said, the Razor battery is not that bad considering the size of the phone.
