Problem is that when tiny things (like cell phones) have a speakerphone function, the microphone path has to be muted while the speakerphone is playing. If not, you'd get massive feedback - and that'd make everyone unhappy. So while the person on the other end of the call is talking or there's enough "far end noise" present, you're phone's mic is muted.

That's how it's got to be...until technology advances far enough where you can have full duplex speakerphone operation with a microphone REALLY close by....

I think it's only half-duplex. Call someone and have them blow into the microphone on their end while you're using and not using the speakerphone. While this is going on, talk back to them - if they can hear you, it's full duplex. If they can't - it's half. But you probably already knew that 😛

I had a similar situation concerning the performance of my speaker phone. While I was still receiving clear audio, the party on the other end said I sounded fine but they were hearing echoing of everything they said. The days before everyone remarked on how clear I sounded on speakerphone. I had changed only one setting earlier that day, and that was I turned the Bluetooth option to always ON. I changed the setting back to Off and that resolved this issue. I hope this is some help to you.

well mayb not.. I use this number 1-800-555-8355(TELL).. Its a machine where u can hear sports scores and tons of other stuff. And during the recording of the machine talking u can say a sport and then a sports team name and and then it will tell u their last score and when they play next.. Well i tried it on speakerphone and the machine wasnt hearing me. my assumption is that it really is half-duplex cause the machine wasnt done talking...
