.02 or .03? is it worth it?
hello everyone. i have a razr i got in december, i have the 02 software on it, i also use MPT 4.04 alot for my phone, ringtones, pics, etc..but i use a cable to do it. now, i havent read a clear answer on any of these topics about the software so, if i update to the 03 software will my MPT be worthless? i dont use BT to transfer just my digital camera cable. i would really like to fix this slow phone with the update but not if i lose making my ringtones, and updating my own pics to the phone. so can someone please enlighten me on what the heck is going on? thanks 🙂

.03 firmware version disables the OBEX bluetooth capability of this phone, only leaving the bluetooth profile for headsets. It also disables the use of multimedia studio in MPT. The only way to get that option back in MPT is to do some seem edits, and forcing MPT to recognize the phone as a V3CM (search www.howardforums.com for this, under verizon and motorola subforums). This will re-enable your ability to tranfer ringtones/pics using your data cable. The .03 firmware only slightly improves response time, not worth it for me since i use the mistakenly enabled OBEX on my .02 firmware.

gotcha. my MPT recognizes my phone as a V3cm right now with no seem edits. and i have no idea how to use the OBEX, i thought it was already locked to only head sets unless you seem the phone? how do i get the updated software? do i have to go deal with the dumb asses in the store? thanks again.

With OBject EXchange, your phone shows up in My Bluetooth Places on your PC.
Just like it was another folder on your hard drive.
MPT uses the modem - much different.

to update your phone, i think you would have to go into a store, as far as i know most stores have them now. not sure if the firmware update will still allow you to connect to MPT as a V3CM, worth a shot i guess. Many people have re-enabled the multimedia studio after getting a .03 V3c

no it won't allow you to connect. you have to hack the software
