I currently have a family share plan. So i would have 2 pay $419 to upgrade. If i was to purchase a v3c elsewhere such as ebay would it be possible to unactivate my current phone and put the razr in its place. Please HELP!!!!!

Absolutely. You can go online and change the ESN yourself or call CS and they will quickly switch the ESN on your account. No problem at all.

Just make sure it is a V3c. Some ebayers might be selling old GSM models and say they will work on Verizon. Also, they like to charge you if you do the ESN change over the phone. It is free to do online. But if the phone you are replacing is not a phone with EVDO the ESN change online will not work so you will have to call in and they will have to add some features to the account before it will take. Just make sure to keep mentioning that you don't want charged for the ESN change.
