disable side buttons

Anyone know of a way to disable the side (soft) buttons? More times than not from moving around in my pocket the ringer profile gets changed (usually to alarm) and somehow the phone dialed my last called number.

Locking the keypad (CLR then #) has done the trick for me. If you press any of the soft buttons after locking the keypad, the only function they will have will be to 'light up' the external display.

Hmm..when I do this my own number displays and the keypad does not lock...

Maybe my phone is bad?
