ActiveSync Via WIFI?

On my old Axim I could sync via wifi, but it doesn't look like it's built in to the new program. Has anyone done this and if so, HOW? I hate the idea of using wires to hook up to my laptop and the Infared port is super SLOW at data transfers.

I looked it up on the Microsoft website and apparently in the newest version of activesync (4.1) they have removed the sync-ing via WIFI. Has anyone found a way to work around this?

I tried to uninstall 4.1 and reinstall 3.8 but the 8125 told me I had to have a version of AT LEAST 4.0 or higher! Dang! Let me know if anyone knows something I don't!

Not sure why you are having problems using ActiveSync with your Exchange server. It works just fine for me. Methinks there's something wrong with your Exchange server, not the phone.

It's not an exchange server at all. I connect my laptop and my phone to the internet using a wifi router. On my Axim, I was able to connect, but the new build of Activesync 4.1 actually says they have removed Wifi Activesync. Sucky!

Have you tried 4Smartphone.net? I am trying out their 15 day free trial and so far, I am able to get "push" email through ActiveSync on my MDA and it works great. It syncs over WiFi, GPRS/EDGE, and USB... and you pay $6.99 a month for them to host your account via Exchange Server (you have to pay around $86 for a year at the end of the 15 day trial period).

The sync over WiFi is super-fast! It takes a few seconds when I use it through my home router with a cable modem. The other great thing is that you can select to have your mail synced every 5 minutes (or other time increment) and the email gets pushed to your handset automatically. So far, this service beats having to go into email accounts only to see messages you already deleted...
