In their plans it seems to imply to use wi-fi you have sign up for their data connect bundles. Is this true or can the wi-fi also function independently of Cingular and their hotspots?

You can use the regular wi-fi wherever you can find a free wi-fi spot or use it with your wireless router at home. What they're trying to sell, is their hotspots. Like they have a lot of places set up in and around UPS stores and what not.. They're saying if you purchase their wi-fi package you can access those spots. They're trying to get like Verizon's broadband network. So if you just wanna hit the freebees, then no biggie, do it all ya want 🙂
