Question regarding running .Exe file

sorry guys im new to the pda world...i browsed through the forums and learned everything there is to know from you guys...

i also downloaded all the programs u guys recommended and fixed what i could...but i stil dont know how to run the exec files...

my phone says "file is not a 5.0 phone tools file" or something along those lines...

any help is appreciated thanks for your time

With .exe files, I am able to install them via ActiveSync by downloading them to my PC and running the .exe. It should run on your PC and after you follow the instructions, it will start ActivSync's installation wizard.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you can only run .cab files on the pocket pc if they are installation programs.... If not, it may not be compatible with Windows Mobile 5.0.

haha i get it now...thanks...originally i was copying the .exe install file to my phone and tryen to execute it. didnt think i had to run it on my pc instead

No problem. Just remember to uninstall the program from your PC if you don't need it on there. Many (if not all) of the programs I installed through ActiveSync showed up in the Add/Remove programs list, so I uninstalled them.

okay im a aspiring mda owner and im trying to catch on so clarify although i may sound behind

.exe - what files are those? programs? if so which ones?

and activesync.... what do you do with the .exe file more specific and how do you send to the phone usb cable? or convert it with the software that comes with the phone or convert them into .cab to open with the phoen
...
