signal loss

My signal keeps going in and out in areas I never really lost before with my MPX220. I was told that even though I have a 64k sim card that I should get a new one and try the upgrade even though the Cingular person that sold me the phone said the update was current. Has anyone else had to do this?

I am having the same problem. my signal drops within the first 5 minutes of a call. it loses signal and then searches for a signal and then it looks like a it searches for an internet connection because i get connecting to MY ISP GPRS. anyone else have this problem. If so any resolutions?? the only thing that i have noticed is that since i did the upgrade to the latest firmware i have been having this problem. I never had a problem like this before.

I had this problem. I think the problem is something like this: When it happened to me, I was connected to the internet. It would drop the call in the first five minutes and do the "Searching for connection" thing. If i disconnected from the internet before starting a call (outgoing only) it wouldnt have that problem and I have no firmware updates on my phone.

the problem is agile instant messenger or pocket weather. with the newer firmware version 2.25 it has a problem with this software. once you remove this software you will not drop any calls.

So I spoke with Data Support for Cingular and according to them its this: You cannot be connected to the internet and making calls. You must drop the data connection before placing a call. Because its a PDA its not like normal cell phones that disconnect from the internet before allowing you to accept/reject the call. Personally, im getting rid of mine. I thought it was a great phone but working for Cigular, i get nothing but calls about how this phone sucks. I'm calling tomorrow and having mine exchanged because i cant seem to make it do anything anymore.

I work for Cingular as well. I work in Business to Business Sales support. I get calls about this phone all the time but never anything bad. As far as dropping a data signal before you can make a call I have never had a problem. It turns off my data and places the call or turns off my data and rings my phone.

Example: I have Agile messenger on my phone. I was signed in and my GF was in the same room using my laptop talking to her friends on Trillian. (I am obviously on her list). All of a sudden she turns and asks why I signed off. I said that I didn't. Less than 1 second later my phone rang.

That has been very typical for me with this device.
