I think both are decent but I can't decide. Does anyone have experience with both or has anyone switched to the xv-6700 from the Samsung i730? Any info would be appriciated!

I can't believe you've looked at them closely at all and haven't found the XV-6700 the choice hands down.

It is NOT "hands down". While I do not have the 700, I have had that form factor (both the 600 and the 650). The Treo is very good for single handing, and I liked the Today Screen interface better on the 700. However, the 6700 has WiFi (may or may not be important), and ever since the VX9800 I have loved the big keyboard. You can't really go wrong...but you did not say anything about your usage.

In landscape mode the 6700 is awesome while browsing the web, I think that is a bonus over the 700, slightly.

Both have WM5, camera, EvDO....

One thing that MIGHT be bad (opinions vary) is that on the 6700 you MUST slide the keyboard open if you don't want to write on the screen....whereas on the 700 you can do either right there.

Great post, however it's completely irrelevant to the question asked.

Thanks for playing.

I see the advantages of the 6700 being battery life (twice as long), a camera, a larger keyboard and WM5. I-730 has a faster processor, voice dialing, stereo speakers and WM3.

The Windows Mobile upgrade will more than likely be available late first quarter. I check e-mail but wait to reply in my office unless I need to respond immediately or I can reply with a short answer, so I don't type that much on the keyboard.

So in my case I don't feel like looking at both of the units I wanted to smaash the i-730 on the ground and dance with the xv-6700. I feel like it's pretty close and hoped someone either owns the i-730 and decided to switch or decided against switching and could fill me in on their reasoning...

I tried the i730 for two full weeks, and then bought the xv6700. I really like the style of the i730- it's a good looking device, and easy to hold. The battery life was the killer for me. I could never get more than a third of the way through the day before the battery was history. I hated the extended battery- way to big and heavy.

I gave my daughter my old 650- if the TREO 700P becomes available soon I will probably go with that, I LOVE EVDO!- but I am not real impressed with WM2003 or WM5.0

Vipermad-you can write on the screen with the slide closed. This was bugging me too until I found out I can tap keyboard icon with the tip of my thumb and change it to number pad with Itap or T9 predictive text, tapping once more gives you the numbers only. Give it a shot.
