How to disable the stupid power button

Guys, I gotta tell you, I am starting to hate my phone. I think this thing is junk. If I press the power button for just a quarater of a millionth of a second too long, it turns the lcd off, then I can't see crap! The thing needs to be constantly rebooted. Verizon has horrible service, I can't hear anyone on the other end.

Verizon wants me to pay a fortune to switch, I wish I never went with them

Please give me some reassurance

Thanks

Just click it. Don't hold it at all. One click turns it off.

I recomend enabling the password so that, even though an indadvertant click in your pocket will turn it on, it won't dial or do anything aside from ask for the password.

As for rebooting: I do have to reboot mine about once every two days. Get something like smallmenu to allow you to actually shut applications down. Helps with memory usage.

ltek1: What is "small menu"? Is that something on the phone or a software download? You'll have to excuse my ignorance, this is my first PDA phone.

It is a software ap. Google it, and download it. Run the included .exe while your phone is attached to the computer cradle.

Small menu lets you easily switch between tasks, and to fully close out ones you're not using. The "X" at the top of the included aps in WM5 only minimizes them, doesn't close them.

I have to hold down the power button for 1 - 2 seconds to turn off/on the backlight on the XV-6700. If your phone is behaving much different than that, then it may need "special attention."

Anyway, I've shut off the backlight by accident a few times, but got used to it. There are countless devices these days which have buttons that behave differently depending on whether you click them, or hold them down. I suspect we're stuck with that kind of thing for awhile...

Uhhh...as far as the LCD going dark - there is very simple solution for it - push the button again!

A quick push turns it off and back on. A prolonged (2-3 seconds max) push turns the backlight off and a similar push turns it back on. All explained in the manual.

As for the reboot - dont know what to tell you - I've never had to do a reboot during the month I have owned it now and I have installed 8 programs and done at least 10 different registry hacks.

Volume is fine on mine as it has been on every verizon provided phone I have owned.

Maybe your phone is defective?
