has anyone known of a successful way to send a text message to an email address. When i type on in(email address) in the text field, it says "the text message account cannot be used to send email messages"....I know someone out there can hack that?!?! I don't have a data package so sending text to email would be really helpful

thanks

You can send a SMS via email if you use the mobile phone carriers protocol. Like for Sprint, it is XXXXXXXXX (mobile number)@messaging.sprintpcs.com. You will have to check the other mobile carriers' sites to see what their protocol is for this.

Correct ! Inter-carrier in the US by just the 10-digit mobile is in place. However, we still see sporadic issues with certain service providers, who either 1) establish a new prefix in a specific area code 2) port in a MIN from another carrier. Also, there are the little fish like your Cellular 2000's, and your ALLTEL's (that don't really have the same exposure as the big fish like VZN, SPRINT, CIGNULAR etc.) where we still need to put translations in the SS7 layer in place for the messaging to work.

aka : we can use 10-digit messaging to sms other carriers "for the most part". You will still every so often come across some that are isolated...
