It looks like UTStarcom released the update today as they now have links to download both the update file and the associated instructions.

I tried it today but wasn't able to get very far. Got an error message when attempting to run the update file stating that it was corrupt. I opened a support ticket with UTStarcom but have not heard back from them yet.

I looked on Verizon's website but I couldn't find the download listed out there anywhere.

Has anyone gotten it to work? Did you find the download somewhere else?

Towards the end of the instructions, it mentioned the likelihood of getting an 'error 101' msg, was this the same error you got on your pc? Go through the instructions again or try their cust. serv. number.

Nope....never got that far. As soon as I would launch the exe it would come back with:

"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again."

I have received a reply to the support ticket that I opened with UTStarcom. They indicated that they were aware of the problem, were currently working on it and suggested that I try the download again later today.

I tried it once earlier and had the same result. However, I just went out and checked again and the file that is now out there is significantly larger than the previous one....so something has changed. I am pulling down the file right now and wil...

Much better.

The file that is now available worked with no problems. Phone is now updated and everything appears to be working just fine.

Everyone should be aware of this by now, but just to reiterate - this process will do a complete wipe of your device so you will have to reinstall any applications, re-sync all data, etc. after the update has been completed. I am currently in the process of reinstalling my apps, but so far so good.

Direct Push - about frickin' time!!!

Thanks SpaceAce. I also upgraded my phone and it looks good. I just synchronized my contacts and all went fine. I am looking forward to use voice dialer!

What other improvements were made besides adding voice dialer? I already use Voice2go so I don't need that. I am wondering if there are any other good improvements to make it worth my while to reload all the stuff I have on and redo all my hacks.
Thanks for being the guinnee pigs...LOL 😲)

Not a lot really.

The list that they reference in the upgrade doc as being "some of the primary enhancements" is basically as follows:

1. MSFP
* direct push
* Remotely enforced IT policy
* Local and remote device wipe
* Certificate-based authentication
* Enhanced security using S/MIME
2. Voice dialing
3. Lock function added to Today screen
4. Corrected an issue where device would enter "flight mode" on it's own
5. Allow for Wi-Fi and CDMA simultaneously

MSFP is certainly worth it if you are connected to an Exchange 2003 SP2 box - if not.....no real benefit.

IMO the Voice dialing app that they include is pretty lame in comparison to Voice Command. It uses voice tags which would have to be individually recorded and att...

Yeah thanks, I think I will pass, like I said I already have purchased a voice program, I already use the hack so I can turn on wifi (along with about all the others out there thanks to Ya'll out there...You know who you are 😁 ) and phone at same time (sucks the battery down like crazzzy so I hardly ever keep them both on). I like you have never had my phone go into flight mode on its own. Also the remote device wipe frankly scares me...LOL. Thanks for the Info!
