Does VerizonWireless charge you double for Data?
When I purchased this phone I was looking for something to keep me organized, good calendar of appointments, good contacts list, to do list, etc. I don't really need the Internet service as I have a computer close to me at all times. When I purchased the phone the rep told me "You have to purchase the unlimited data plan ($44.95 per mo. + your reg. calling plan) otherwise your phone will not work". He specifically said... can't have the phone w/o the Data unlimited data plan". I said OK, and immediately after I had the phone in my hands I called customer service and they changed my plan to the "pay as you go". However, the customer service rep convinced me to take the $5.00 per month unlimited Text and PICS within VZW and 50 pics & texts from another carrier. I figured, sure...I like to text anyway. Long story short...my bill came and I was charged the $5.00 for the unlimited package but also $.15 per kilobyte for sending and receiving pic messages to my wife's VZW phone. I GOT CHARGED DOUBLE. I called VZW and they agreed its not fair but the phone is set up to use DATA when sending and receiving pic messages. Any other phone that is not PDA phone does not charge kilobytes when sending/rec. pic messages so why should I? Is there a way to bypass the data connection (#777) to send and receive pics? I don't mind paying the $5.00 but I don't feel it's fair to pay for kilobytes when I am not using the NET and when other phones don't get charged for sending pic msgs under the unlimited plan. Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
There is no way around this AFAIK. That is how the phone is designed, its DATA services aren't the same as a normal phone.
I always strongly recommend people buy the unlimited data plan. When people talk about not getting the plan I strongly advise against it.
If you aren't on a family share plan you should consider a bundle plan. If you use 450 or less minutes unl data is only $40 , if you use 451-1350 unl is only $30.
