Motorola Q and GPS
Or is the thinking that Verizon will disable any sort of GPS capabilities of this phone?
Currently the only handsets that offer the VZ navigator ability are the Motorola V325 and the LG vx 9800 (A software flash upgrade is needed for older LG vx9800s). Additionally devices will be released at a later date.

Ok, that is great, but what if you do not want to use VZ Navigator, but you want to use something the GPS device that comes with Streets and Trips? Anyone have any idea if this will be possible with this phone (through Bluetooth) given its smartphone OS?
Is it true that the GPS chip onboard the Q won't connect to any available GPS software and that you still need a bulky external receiver?
Sadly, without Broadband tethering or integrated Navigation, the Q seems more like a boardroom toy than a road warrier.
Ordered a very small I-Blue bluetooth gps transmitter that has 30 hours of use between charges and automatically cuts off when your Q leaves signal and cuts back on when you get in range again. Great feature with excellent reviews. Will update when it arrives and I test it next week.
The software works great to plan and map a trip, both on the pc and on the Q. The screen shots are optimized for the Q and the male and female voices are perfectly understandable.
Stay tuned for more.
I just bought a solar powered BT GPS (sirf star III) for $80 that I plan to use for roadtrips. I'd like my wife to be able to use her Q with that unit as well but so far not so many navigation software is available for the Q.
Does anyone know any other turn-based navigation software that would work with the Q? I don't need the GPS bundle, just the sw.
I already ordered a solar-powered Bluetooth (SirfStar III) GPS for $80 off eBay so I don't need the GPS part.
If anyone else knows of any voice-prompting turn-by-turn navigation software that is more reasonably priced (that works with the Q) please let us know.
