Verizon Crippled DUN on the Q?
I asked Verizon Wireless Data Technical Support whether I could pay the $15/month and teether the Q as a modem either by USB or bluetooth. They responded immediately to my questions. The first response indicated that the Q did not support this function. When I responded that the Q did support DUN they clarified that they did not support teethered modem access at this time. They said they were hoping to have this feature availible soon but had no timetable given to them. (see emails below)
So while it is not supported by VZW, someone with a Q will have to try teethering via USB cable and bluetooth and report whether it works or not. Someone will also need to see if they can have VZW add the $15 broadband access connect feature to their unli...

It doesn't matter if they did. Just download and install pdanet. According to their web site (http://www.junefabrics.com/pdanet/index.php) they will support the Q via USB. With them you purchase the software one time for about $30, rather than paying Verizon $15 a month over the cost of your "unlimited" data.
You can even download a free trial and give it a try before you buy.

Pdanet works fine. It's worth the $30 even if VZW offers it later for free so you don't wait. But you might want to consider whether to pay the $15 per month to VZW. If they detect data usage more consistent with a laptop than a PDA, they can shut you down. It's happened, but I don't know how frequently. If your laptop usage will be relatively light, they probably never know.

Do you need to have a data plan in order to use Pdanet? If yes, might this work instead:
VCAST + Pdanet = all you can eat dialup?
Currently, this is what I have with my e815 - only no Pdanet since DUN isn't disabled.
