This is totaly awesome!!!!

Just go to this site from your Q (enter your XM email and password) and you can stream XM radio directly to the Q !!! And through the stereo speakers it sounds amazing!! No need to store MP3 on your device, just listen to XM all the time.

I LOVE THIS!!!

i tried to do this same thing with my sirius online listening stations, but i couldn't get it to work. i got through the sirius site and was able to log onto where you go to stream the music, but when it completes loading nothing plays and the buttons aren't highlighted to pick a station to play ☚ī¸

if anyone is able to do this with sirius PLEASE post since this would be an excellent feature!!!! congrats to XM subscribers as this is an awesome plus to having a Q!!!!

I don't know myself since my company takes care of the bill, but, I'd bet on it. Anything requiring any type of data transfer is going to be charged.

I have the same issue and I think it is not due to the XM or the site. But rather its the windows media applicatio stays on just like any other application that runs on the web.

The only way I can shut it off is to go to the task manager and kill the Windows Media Player task.

Its a pain but worth it for the XM radio streaming.

Does this use the internet? I assume it does though I wasn't planning on getting the unlimited pda package.

Yes, it streams the XM radio over the internet. Basically all XM users are allowed to access XM from their website and stream the music to their PC (without an XM receiver of course). But this one site is basically a front end interface (designed for mobile PDA browsers, smarphones, etc) that interfaces with the XM site.

So plan on getting unlimited data plan if you want to do this. And also have an XM account or find a friend that has an XM sattelite radio and ask if you can use their username/password to access XM from the web. Multiple people can logon from one account from what I have testedwith 3 simultaneous connections.

Hi, new Q user here. How do I go about acquiring the XM Radio for my Q smartphone?
How much space should one have on their Q for radio to work smoothly? Thanks in advance to one and all with help and suggestions. I look forward to hearing from fellow Q users!

Thx.!

You just sign on to the sites listed, log in and viola! You are listening to xm radio. You would have to already have an xm account though. If not, you can try to log on xmradio's website to sign up. The space on your Q would be adequate although sometimes the WMP gets "choppy" but otherwise is ok. There are currently two sites to log in to get xm which both should be in previous posts. Enjoy!

Thank you for your quick response RandySr!
I shall give it a try. I just recently downloaded a trial (30 days) of the Resco Radio. The reception seems great. Has anyone heard about that application? I'll continue to try it out.
Also, has anyone heard about the "so-called" new update. I was told by Verizon that it would be available in two (2) weeks, that was four (4) weeks ago?

Sincerely,
abbs

I found another site that offers streaming access to XM radio via Q and the internet:

Looks really cool. Better GUI than the other site.

I do have XM subscriptions and would like to activate this feature. However, when I log in to this site and put in my info. it is telling me invalid email/password. Is anyone having this problem? The email/password works from my desktop on regular XM site.

Yes. I'm having the same problem. I even called an XM rep who told me it was "illegal" to stream through a PDA.

Anybody else??????

Couple of points, Calls don't come in when you are streaming. It's like being on the phone in a call! Also make sure you have the unlimted data option or you will be sorry when you get the bill!

anyone check out verizon new rules on bandwidth restrictions. How much bandwidth does streaming xm on your q use? Verizon is now taking a strong stance and booting people off data network for streaming video, how about music?

As far as I am concerned, the sales rep assured me i have UNLIMITED internet access as all of you were probably told too. To me "unlimited" means exactly that. If they start setting limits it will have to be on new contracts only otherwise I see a big lawsuit stirring up.

i agree, but if you read terms and conditions it talks about unreasonable bandwidth usage. Sprint and Verizon are both starting to set real guidelines to back this up, they have directly targeted slingbox and file sharing of movies as a direct way to get the boot, that is why i am asking the question about xm.

All I know is that the day VZW slaps on an extra charge for my internet usage, or blocks the amount of data throughput,...thats the day I walk into a Verizon store, hand them my phone and tell them to sue me for my contract fullfillment.

I WILL GLADLY SEE THEM IN COURT!

I can not log on to this site for some reason. Has anyone else had problems with it? It doesn't accept my username and password even though I've double checked several times. XM knows nothing about the site?

Think about this: Using an adapter (2.5mm to 3.5mm) or some other type (tape deck adapter), hook your device to your car/home stereo through the auxilary or tape player now you can have XM radio everywhere you go without buying all those expensive XM players.

YOUR DA MAN ERIC!!!! This worked awesome on my MPX220. I logged in and listened to it for about a min on the low speed setting because I only have a 1 meg data plan. It was playing at 32kbps (high is 64kpbs) and still sounded great. I then tried it on a friends Verizon Treo Windows device on the high setting and it sounded even better with the stereo headset. Who needs one of those XM portable devices (which need a view of the sky) when you got this!

So lets get this straight. Now...

Just a thought...Whats keeping whoever is running this site from logging into your XM radio account and changing your radio ID to his or adding subscriptions to your account. Being that you can do all the payment for your XM account online it real easy to do whatever they want once in it. I'm sure this guy has got free XM out of whoever uses his site. and being that XM radio has nothing to do legaly with this site they won't help you if you have a problem. Like I said...just a thought
