Numbers don't automatically work in number fields

The manual says that the number keys are automatically enabled when the user is entering data into a numeric field.

This is true when you are entering contacts (ie: the phone numbers for your contact)

HOWEVER - I've noticed there are several fields for which this is not true.

I was entering Calendar information, and I noticed that when I wanted to enter the date - I had to keep hitting the ALT key to enter the day/month/year.

I also noticed that when I was setting the alarm clock - I had to use the ALT key to enter the time.

Am I doing something wrong, or do other people have this issue as well?
Is there another way to enter dates/times w/o hitting the ALT key before every character?

Is it that hard to press ALT 2 times? How about calls, email does that work for you? You must be real busy and need a device like this if your spending all this time complaining about crap like this!!

Actually - it is a big deal.

Read the user's manual. Moto specifically states that they have designed functionality that enables the Q to go into number entry mode when you are in a pure number field.

They obviously forgot about:
- calendar date / time
- alarm time
- password entry to unlock the phone

If this isn't a "big deal" then why would moto specifically mention this in the manual and have taken time to design it this way.

You are 100% wrong - and it IS a big deal to have to hit the ALT key 2x EVERY time you want to enter a calendar date or time.

I agree with kgray. It's not so much that I have to press the Alt key 2X but WHEN do I have to press it and when does it do it automatically.

I completely agree with kgray...you don't what's supposed to work and what's not...even with the stupid manuals! (for any phone!)

I have a problem entering numbers into a "password" field. I have hit the "shift" key, the "alt" key (and all sorts of combinations)and cannot get to a point where I can enter a number. My email account has numbers in the password; I can't enter them; any ideas?

I had the same problem. I simply used the shift key to enter the numbers in my password. It is a bit of a pain but if you save your login info then it only needs to be done once.

And I too agree with the original author that the auto number feature isn't thought out well on the Q. It makes no sense that some fields populate with numbers an others that probably should don't automatically do so.

That drove me crazy. That's one of the reasons why i gave the Q up.
