Speed Dial Options
I'm setting up my speed dial and it appears that only number keys are available for assignment. On my Treo I could assign any alphanumeric value which I found very convenient. Anyone know how this can be done with the Q?

I also found the same thing.
It's really annoying - especially since the number keys don't have all of the letters of the alphabet.
I used to keep people on the key that corresponded to their name - but now I only have 9 letters to choose from.

I think I found an alternate approach that could be acceptable. You can speed dial applications as well as phone numbers, Web pages and email address. I added the Voice Recognition app (which I didn't have on my Treo) to the speed dial and now I can just say the name of the person I'd like to call. My Bluetooth earphone also activates the VR app.

Why would you use one of your few (9) speed dial keys for voice recognition when there is already a dedicated key on the keyboard to launch it (just hold the speakerphone/pacman button for 3 seconds)
Am I not understanding what you've done?

You only have 9 speed dials? Are you sure? I have 99. Press first digit and then hold second. But, I didn't know about holding down the speaker button for VR. I didn't see that shortcut in the quick start guide. Did you find that in the user manual?

Yeah - they mention it in the user manual.
And - you are correct - I do have '99' speed dials - not 9. I just only plan on using the first 9 because that's the extent of my memory - I'll never remember who's who if I start programming '99' of them! 🤣

Well, if your speed dials aren't part of your contacts, at least you can put them up on the speed dial section.
I pretty much don't use speed dial at all, and let the voice command do all the dialing.
